Greg Lemond said about cycling, “It doesn’t get easier, you only go faster”. While also true about skiing and about most times I’ve been out, the orange trail at Shannondale is probably the best example of this. You can try to have a nice easy skate around the orange, but that trail always ends up kicking your butt! The more you do that one, it doesn’t get easier, but you get better at it and hopefully faster – and have a great time doing it.
No complaints about trail conditions today. The light afternoon snow made it pretty good.

Hi fresh air seekers,
David here,

Trails were all groomed by midnight Dec 17.
‘Tis cloudy, and looks like it could snow a little.
And then the following 2 nuggets of info will be stale!
The snow is a little thin on the Orange and Yellow Skate Trails, with very occasional material showing that is not snow.
The classic trails can be similarly described.
Folks are enjoying the trails here.
Every body has smiles when they come off the trails.
Trail head cabin and the Chalet in the Valley will be warm before noon Saturday and Sunday, and most days from Dec. 24 to Jan 1, 2010, inclusive.
Both have heat on right now.

Trade up, Get your healthy and happy here, leave the bad stuff in the bush.
 David!!!

Hi Wannabe here Skiers, David here,

  • Blue Trails groomed to Carsons at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, Dec 16.

  • Trails will be ready for the weekend.
  • dgl!!

Reasonably accurate map,      3D not possible!     David!

Hi outdoor folks, David here,

Go to the Langdon weather forecast of 30% and 20% chance of snow 3 days out of 4.    Can we influence the snow to come our way?  We need a little.    Ho Ho Ho!

PS:     Looks like it should warm up for the weekend.    Our trails should be good for 100 skiers in a day,  when I  have them groomed, and speed intersections  marked.    dgl!!

About 20 Skiers were on trails today.

Sat. Dec. 12, A M Update, dgl.
A skiff of snow has refreshed the trails.
dgl!

David here,

Trails are good, but caution is necessary with the shallow snow conditions.
There are some ”no go” zones marked with 1″ rope on the snow, where skiing is not advised.
The Basic Orange is for Free Style skiing, and the Orange Trail Options are packed waiting for more snow.
Your curiosity of Orange Trail Options is greatly admired, do go and look, anticipate the challenge and the excitement of slopes and more snow.
The Blue and the Yellow/Green Trails are good with only very occasional location where track set rubbed through the snow.
Trail Head Cabin, and the Chalet in the Valley will be warm this weekend.

Yours to enjoy!

David!!!!

You may be wondering if skiing will go on when it is very cold. We have always said the leaders will be there. You as parent know your child and their abilities to withstand the cold. Please if you do come out, plan to stay close by, so if your child becomes to cold you can deal with them.

There will be the hot chocolate sign up sheet in the cabin this Saturday, so bring you calendars so you can check which dates work for you. We are asking for a parent from each level ( the parent tot group and the jackrabbits) to help out each week.

See you Saturday at 10:00, dress warm and please have proper mitts and place a scarf over those tender little noses.
Edith
